Review: Martin D-35 Rating you gave the Martin D35: 5 - Best thing I ever bought Like about the Martin D-35: The D-35 is a very versatile guitar. Its sound ranges from the growly bass of the blues when played hard to a more balanced choir like quality when played lightly.

Your experience will probably be the best advisor for you. In the end, what matters most is that you love the sound of your guitar. How it gets that sound, even though it makes for wonderful conversation, matters far less. Bracing patterns are, no doubt, important. Particularly for gearheads like us here at UMGF. However, you need to hear how those bracing patters affect the sound. That's something only you can ascertain when you A/B a 28 against a 35.

The Martin D-35 dreadnought acoustic guitar is perhaps the most beautiful factory guitar ever made, enhanced with the famous Martin quality and sound. Starting in 1965 with the Brazilian Rosewood version, it was clearly designed as a custom rosewood parallel to the classic D-28. Although the Braz gave way to the more available Indian Rosewood in 1969—nine years before when this particular guitar was made in 1978 according to its serial number (401426)—the Martin commitment to this custom concept has remained absolute to this day. Featuring solid woods throughout, the D-35 is a superb American-made acoustic guitar with tremendous visual impact, a “Wow” factor which few other designs—boutique or otherwise—can ever produce. The Martin D-35 features a three-piece solid Rosewood back and Rosewood sides in a semi-gloss finish and a glossy finish solid Sitka Spruce top. The binding is not flashy abalone, but it is very elaborate six-ply top binding and three-ply back binding, with its white outer layer alternating with black lines.

Enjoy your new Martin! '35s can be real nice!

Very disappointed. Again no problems with the guitar but very worried when this much of an investment starts falling apart so quickly. Background: professional church musician for 35 years, Fishman Rare Earth Blend soundhole pickup, Fishman Loudbox 100, medium sized church. Wow.is this guitar LOUD. But in a good way. I am a church music leader and switched to this from a D-16gt ( and before that a Taylor) The 16 has a sweet tone but not enough bottom for hard strumming. I have owned a dozen different Taylors (315, 510, GA, etc) and this is by far the best-projecting six string I have ever heard.and its not even 'opened up.'

Only 27 of these guitars have been documented to date. • Jenkins: Martin made Style 1 and 2 ukes for this Kansas City mail order company.

Scored it for about $800 + a Marshall DSL head I haven't been using and a pedal that's been sitting around for years. I think I came out pretty well on this one. They seem to be going for $1500-$2000 in this condition on reverb/eBay. I am assuming this nut is not original but don't really have a ton of info on what Martin was using then. It almost looks like wood but I plan on throwing a bone nut on it sometime in the future. For now it plays just fine. Great sounding guitars.

In most cases, a cleate is glued so the cleate’s grain orientation is perpendicular to the grain orient- ation of the instrument. This maximizes the ability of the cleate to hold a crack closed. Dating Since this is an open crack which I’ll be splinting and the surface to be cleated is larger than most non- pickguard cracks I’ve glued this cleate slightly off parallell to both reduce the negative impact on tone and prevent any unwanted damage to the instrument should the guitar be subjected to severe changes in relative humidity.
